I’m a personal trainer in Minneapolis. I started noticing that, for whatever reason, no matter what I did, I found it hard to retain my White male clientele. I would notice clients who were initially really excited to train with me outwardly showing discomfort when I would command them to give me push-ups, run in place or push the sled.
One day, I had a frank and honest conversation with one of my White colleagues who advised me that he had been informed that some of my former clients felt uneasy having a Black man telling them what to do in the gym. My goal is to help all people, no matter who they are, transform their bodies into their best form.
